Color Color Everywhere!

New colors in Kona cotton from Kaufman coming in in April and below some inspiration for using them.

I love looking at large carpets and wall designs to get inspiration for clothing and quilt art on a smaller scale. Wouldn't this huge wall mural made from 250 porcelain tiles called Whirls and Twirls by artist Sol LeWitt(who died shortly after this commission) make great inspiration for a jacket or quilt made from solid colored fabric. We just received this beautiful silk print in for spring. It's in the most popular color of the season

TURQUOISE(later this spring we will devote a whole month to turquoise), but for now just a taste. I'd love wearing a beautiful summer smock to this achitectually divine place with the same backgroud color, The Spa at the L'auberge in Del Mar, just a hop, skip, and a jump from LaJolla.

Trend Alert: Pleats, Ruching, and Shirring!

As scene at the Oscars, a big trend this year in garment design is pleating ruching and shirring fabrics. This makes a wonderful molding to the body effect and creates a very romantic look!

Beautiful Gowns and Beautiful Fabrics

My favorite thing about Oscar night is of course the beautiful gowns and beautiful fabrics. Movies aside, bring on the gowns. This year there were many exquisite gowns,
and here are my picks. Number one has got to be Demi Moore's long flowing ruffled Gone with the Wind dress by Versace Atelier. It was fitted to her like a glove, cut on the bias out of two shades of peachy-nude silk chiffon. Makeup colors are really the rage for Spring/Summer2010. Second through eighth picks are listed and all something I would love to wear to my next special occasion.
Oscar does know about mixing great movies with great fabrics!

New Bali Handpaints

Just received a shipment of bali handpaints. This fabric is the best wearing fabric of the summer. It is cool, comfortable and doesn't wrinkle like linen. Beautiful color trends for spring/summer 2010, ORANGE and TAXICAB YELLOW!

After posting last week our new Hana Road Collection I remembered keeping an article by Robin Green about the fabulous artist who lives in Southern California who does paintings of Hawaii. Michael Cassidy really captures the island feel. His works are found in many fine art galleries.

This new Collecton of fabrics at Jane's Fabrique came to me after reading a great article in the new Coastal Living Feb 2010. The article titled "The Ultimate Island road Trip" inspires anyone to jump on a plane and travel to Maui's most beautiful destination Hana. But if you cant' go to Hana just now then perhaps consider making something with the new Collection Hana Road.
The collection combines a Hoffman island print in dark teal with linens from Ralph Lauren in shades of sand and tops off with handpainted bali prints in hot shots of color,
bamboo, coconut and sunrise. In March we will have garments and Home decor items sewn up. Can't wait to see them made up.
